Hawaii Day 4-5 (June 15-16, 2014)

You know it's going to be a good day when you wake up in Hawaii to a rainbow.June 15th was nothing short of a spectacular day. After the speckles of rain left us to reveal a bright sunny day, we took off from our condo to head to the Iao Valley, which was nothing short of incredible. It took us forever to get a parking spot but it was absolutely worth the wait. We hiked up beyond where the paved footpath ends to reveal some stunning views of the valley that can't be seen from the main part. I wish we could have continued further, but we had quite a bit else planned for the day. We trekked down a little bit to check out the stream, which would have...

Hawaii Day 1-3 (June 12-14, 2014)

Why hello there! I've been on vacation in Hawaii (specifically, Maui) with Lindsay-Mae  since the night of June 11th, exploring and soaking in the heat. We've done some mini driving trips so far, driving down Highway 30 from our place near Kaanapali  to Kahului, stopping to stock up on food at Costco and keeping it pretty low key over all.  The second day, we went to the Maui Aquarium, drove to Big Beach near Makena and saw some awesome volcanic landscapes,  and went out for dinner in Kaanapali. The third day was pretty low-key, renting snorkel sets in the morning and exploring the beach in front of our place (we saw a sea turtle swim by!!!!! and a million colourful fish) before heading to Lahaina to check out the shops...

The Pond Ghost (May 30, 2014)

One of two photoshoots done this day (see 'Plunge' here). Haley and I have definitely found a new favourite shoot location. Armed with four smoke grenades, a giant mirror, rubber boots, and a flowing white dress amongst all my photo gear, we dragged ourselves down the hill at Mt. Doug with all our belongings to the most perfect pond for this shoot. We soon discovered that it was a) freezing cold, b) deep, and c) uneven on the bottom, which posed some challenges, but our rubber boots held up to the occasion quite well. Even when I leaned over too far in a deep spot and filled my boot with murky pond water...

Plunge (May 30, 2014)

May 30th was a busy day. I managed to cram two photoshoots in to a very short amount of time, including this one with a dear pal Morgan. I had just come from another shoot, and Morgan suggested I bring my new (to me) Canon WP-1 underwater point and shoot film camera to test it out in her pool. If you know me well, you know that I am not too fond of water and swimming...

Refused @ The Vogue Theatre (Vancouver, BC)

August 27, 2012So. After a huge kerfuffle with my photo pass (they put me down for the show the night before!), I was able to shoot this show. Good thing too, because it was hands down the best show I've ever attended, and most fun I've ever had shooting. The Bronx opened up the show. I think it's hard to be an opening band in this kind of situation, when the expectations for the headliner are so damn high. Regardless, they set the night out on a good foot. Now for Refused...
